About Us

The Soil and Water Conservation District is a state of Florida Special District, governed by a Board of five locally elected "Supervisors" from among the local agricultural community. Serving as state officials at the local level, these Supervisors are unpaid. The Conservation District's mission is non-regulatory, delivering financial and technical services to rural working lands in support of natural resource conservation.

Although the main focus of the Conservation District's mission is on sponsoring the adoption of Agricultural Best Management Practices among our agricultural producers, we also support outreach and education programs that teach the broader public about the "ecological services" that rural working lands provide.

For 2025-2026, the Conservation District's Board and staff are reevaluating our strategic priorities. Presently, our highest priority is to reinvest in the District's capacity to deliver technical services to agricultural landowners and operators. With financial support from Hillsborough County Administration, we are reorganizing our team and identifying critical skill sets for our staff positions.
